Oil on board
A mid century Swedish cityscape painted in oil onto board.
Distinct and expressive brushstrokes convey the energy and hustle and bustle of the city. Rich, earthy, and textured colours in deep reds, blues and greens have been applied swiftly, creating a sense of depth and space in the picture. The artist has probably painted this ‘en plein air’ (outdoors), and so has captured the dynamism of the view before him/her.
The painted is housed a very complementary light wood mid century frame which suits it very well. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
