About the Item

oil on panel Jake Fischer, born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, graduated with a Master of Fine Art from Arizona State University in Drawing and Painting. While at ASU, he was awarded accolades including the Benjamin Wong Fie Scholarship, Eirene Peggy Lamb Scholarship, and the Gerry Grout Award. Fischer then attended the Art Students League of New York's residency program where he received the Ruth Katzman Scholarship. In 2016, Fischer had his first solo exhibition in New York, Between Light, at Island Weiss Gallery and has since notably participated in Into the Night: Contemporary Art and Nocturne Tradition at the Tucson Museum of Art. Interpermeate at Bentley Gallery is Fischer’s latest solo exhibition, following 2019’s On a Night Like This at SMINK Art and Design in Dallas. Jake paints on handmade wooden panels that he crafts using a Japanese hand-saw. His work is conceptually driven by ideas such as awareness, cognizance, thought, and engagement. In a new interview with American Art Collector, editor Sarah Gianelli asks Fischer about his shadowy streetscapes and their analogy to consciousness, the duality of life's inner and outer worlds. Fischer says, “Everyday experience relies on both sides of that coin—I’m moving through time and space having a physical experience, but it’s also the thoughts I’m having. They rely on each other to create an entire experience."

    By Emily Persson

"White Blossoms and Green Grass" is a contemporary impressionist view of a lush field in Australia. Emily Persson is a Melbourne based artist who has been creating oil paintings with a palette knife for three years. Emily is a multi-generational artist with roots in Brisbane, Australia. Although an avid hobbyist painter her whole life, Emily found her style and her new career in 2016 when she began painting landscape, seascape and floral still-life paintings inspired by her surrounds in Queensland. Emily decided in late 2017 that she would give away a successful corporate office job and pursue her life long dream of becoming a full time artist. She relocated to South Yarra in Melbourne and immediately began exhibiting across Australia at galleries such as the Moree Gallery and Satch & Co. Emily participated in many group exhibitions and fundraisers in 2018 including multiple shows in Melbourne, New South Wales and Queensland. Emily has gained most of her notoriety from her popularity on Instagram where she has close to twelve thousand followers. Emily’s art has trended worldwide on social media and she has become a pioneer and mentor for other artists trying to find their online groove. Emily has drawn the eye of some of Australia’s most sought after interior designers including Thomas Hamel...
