John Munnings (1916-1987) was the nephew of the famous equestrian artist Sir Alfred J. Munnings. He was born at Mendham Mill, Suffolk, and wrote a book full of fascinating reminiscences about his childhood at the mill. Munnings fought in the Second World War and was held a prisoner of war. After the war he married and became manager of an agricultural firm.
