About the Item
A painting of a locally popular pub in the old, 19th Century area of the town of Stockport in Northern England. The pub, which is reputedly haunted, is well known for its heritage interior and having the smallest gents toilet in the Western hemisphere! This area is the oldest part of Stockport Town centre with many cobbled passageways, narrow streets and winding steps up to a Victorian market Square and I tried to capture some of that alluring yet strange historic atmosphere that can pervade that area in this painting in an otherworldy, almost cartoonish way. It is painted in acrylic paint and some ink on 50x40cm board, varnished and it is presently in a black wooden frame approx 7.5cm wide, but can be removed from that and sold independently if requested.
