About the Item

I began this painting in 2009 as part of pair of the same scene, I sold the other one but only finished this one, after much changing it around, in 2020. I sort of lost my way with it and it was stored away and I would take it out from time to time and think how I could develop it and then alter it accordingly only to find it didn't work and so would store it away again. Finally, I managed to get it how I wanted it! The painting is of Piccadilly, the busy navel of the city of Manchester where you can run into all sorts of people and this general impression of stimulant diversity is reflected in a hyperbolic and occasionally surreal way in the figures of the crowd, of which there are many! Rather than paint the crowd en masse, as an anonymous form, each figure is painted individually in praise of that quality. Consequently, there is plenty of specific detail and incident contained in the crowd in this scene as well as various styles of painting them. :: Painting :: English :: This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist :: Ready to Hang: No :: Signed: Yes :: Signature Location: Bottom right :: Wood Panel :: Landscape :: Original :: Framed: No

Executed with a palette knife, this painting by Henry Dawnay depicts the iconic King’s Road, with the Peter Jones, the famous superstore.
