About the Item
Nan Hass Feldman’s “Looking For a Place to Stay”, is a mixed media painting on a shaped panel with an irregularly arched top in soft pinks, mauves, greens, browns, and blues. The artist writes, "This narrative mixed-media work tells a story interpreted and titled by an 8 year old boy, who went on to tell me that this boy was running away from home, saw this beautiful inviting home across a boulevard full of cars, and was dreaming of being invited to live with them. I grabbed the title of the painting from his narrative. I love when paintings are interpreted individually and never the same way. The colors are quieter than most of mine, but I wanted the recognizable details to be easily understood." It is signed on the front and bottom right and is unframed (as it is an irregular shape) with painted solid edges.
Nan Hass Feldman has been a full-time artist for over 40 years. Her works, whether landscapes or interiors, are interpreted through her screen of selective seeing, playful detail, heightened color, and bits of fantasy. Nan’s work is always vibrantly colorful, intricate, enlivening, and upbeat. For Nan, art is about enhancing and interpreting reality to create a more optimistic and joyous world. Nan’s work has been collected in seven countries, holds BFA, MA, and MFA degrees, teaches in three art museums, runs international painting programs, and runs the Artist Loft on a cruise ship. Feldman is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.

- "Necessary Risk", contemporary, landscape, blue, clouds, mountain, acrylicBy Frantz LexyLocated in Natick, MA“Necessary Risk" is a contemporary landscape painting by Frantz Lexy. Under the blue sky, vast cumulonimbus white clouds tower over a rocky mountain. This 20 x 16 inch painting is rendered in acrylic mediums and is signed on the back of the panel. Through painting, Frantz Lexy explores personal identity, belonging, and humanity’s place in nature and its relationship with technology. Lexy uses personal storytelling as a vehicle to engage contemporary concerns and invites others to find their own narratives through his imagery. Lexy is fascinated with how paradoxical imagery creates tension and compels us to reflect on our immediate reaction. Human figures are recurring motifs in Lexy’s works. He is equally interested in texture and abstraction, and how they play within his landscapes. Lexy’s portfolio is a reflection on the plurality that exists within every individual, and specifically how that relates to people of color. Frantz Lexy is a self-taught artist and experimentation is a driving force behind his vibrant acrylic paintings. His work has been shown in galleries across Massachusetts. He is represented by Fountain Street...Category
