I have always loved old signs. My designer brain flips out when I see vintage neon signs. So, I am working on a collection of work that embodies those amazing, old neon signs. What intrigues me most about this body of work is the juxtaposition of the sign and the cloudscape behind them. In this painting, I love how different the clouds are; from wispy high-altitude clouds, to the puffy cumulus clouds on the horizon. The dramatic sky perfectly frames this iconic vintage sign. These paintings allow me to fully embrace my ΓÇÿpainterly realisticΓÇÖ style. I always want my painting to look realistic, but never want it to look like a photo.
