About the Item
This sample work was undertaken to secure a British Army regimental commission for a military mural painting. Changing financial circumstances were cited by our then agent as to why the commission was unfulfilled. The models were myself and my fellow mural artist Tim. The work consists of a Rowney Cryla acrylic base coat of burnt sienna over the gesso manufacturers finish. Opaque pigments have been used to lay down some areas, also acting as undercoating for sections of the subject matter. Multiple layering of pigment allows for interesting tonal attributes and a degree of luminosity avoiding the usual flat acrylic finish.
