About the Item
"Contemplations by the River," part of my evocative "Thoughts" series, is a journey into the serene embrace of nature and the introspective spirit of femininity. This painting resonates with the raw energy of primitivism and the vividness of color, portraying three women seated in a meadow by the riverside, each lost in her own musings and dreams.
Embodying the deep connection between the human spirit and the natural world, these women are depicted in moments of quiet reflection, suggesting the inner dialogues that connect us with our inner selves and the environment. The fishes in the river are not mere inhabitants of water but bearers of the evangelical symbol of the divine, weaving a spiritual narrative into the naturalistic tableau.
The ornamental depiction of the flora around them, with each stroke and hue, narrates the vibrancy of life, grounding the work in a celebration of the natural world's bounty. The horizon is lined with trees adorned with motifs from ancient Kyivan Rus', bridging the past with the present, and embedding our cultural legacy within the landscape.
This piece continues the dialogue established in my artist statement, emphasizing the role of women as pillars of familial and societal strength, and as vessels of the profound force passed down by our forebears. "Contemplations by the River" from the "Thoughts" series is an invitation to introspection—to find solace in its narrative of color and form, and to hear within it the ancestral wisdom that flows like the river through our collective history.
