Tetiana Pchelnykova
Scythian Sea, Cycle of Being original oil painting

2024

About the Item

This painting is my reflection on the issue of unity with my past and connection with my ancestors. The connection of today's Ukrainians with the forces of their ancestors, self-identification - was very clearly manifested during the year of the war against the Russian occupiers. We felt we belonged to an ancient great culture stretching from the Don to the Black Sea. This picture is my feeling of belonging. I was born in the Ukrainian Crimea. The sea was always by my side. The sea is a living creature for me. I felt ancient history, even in childhood. I heard the first Ukrainian song from my grandmother at a family holiday. The first questions about where my ancestors came from appeared in childhood. And now, I feel this connection with my family even more strongly. But I am trying to transfer it to the canvas with paints. Symbols make up the people's history, reflecting their way of life. The culture of our ancestors was characterized by a very high level of spiritual and economic development. Many symbols that live to this day originated from there and are inherent in their worldview. For him, the perception of the Universe was especially characteristic, and the images were three-dimensional. We can now see these symbols in Ukrainian folk art. The traditions of Trypillian and Scythian culture are exceptionally well preserved. • Nude in French Interior - original extra large oil painting by Paula Craioveanu
    By Paula Craioveanu
    Located in Forest Hills, NY
"Nude in French interior", in a room lighted from one side. Part of my Nude in interior series. Inspired in contrast and colors by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Nude placed in a French palace, a sober classical interior in contrast with the modern relaxed attitude of the main character. Size is 150x150cm / 59x59in, oil on canvas. Painting was part of my solo show "Nude in Interior", March 2022. Can be shipped rolled in a tube for faster and less expensive shipping. Please inquire. "I started by painting interiors, being interested in space and perspective through my studies. These scenes evolved, when I added the human figure. I focused more on the human figure and its relation to the background. The human figure is more present than ever in my paintings now. As a woman artist I’ve been preoccupied with the female form and its imagery. One of my goals was to capture the solitary moments and the nude’s relation to the surrounding space. My interest turned from depicting the space to rendering the atmosphere and the scene as a whole, the feeling a woman adds to the environment: warmth, desire, joy, a feeling of power and control, or the opposite – sadness, despair. Here is a collection of figurative paintings, exploring the nudes in interior spaces, seeing the nudes from my perspective, as a woman artist, considering the physical and spiritual realities of a woman’s body, in a new level of intimacy. My paintings are the opposite of objectifying a woman’s or a man’s anatomy. Painted works, featuring female nudes and a also men nudes...
