follower of William Blake (1757-1827)
19th Century English Romantic School / Pre Raphaelite depiction of Icarus, oil on canvas. Full length scene of Icarus with his wings opened heavenward for flight symbolic of the pride before the fall. Painted by an accomplished painter between the Romantic and Pre-raphaelite movement similar similar to Blake's work teaming the anatomical and the mythological. Excellent condition and presented in superb Neo-classical foliate gilt frame.
