"Fauste and Margarite Leaving Church", a 19th century oil painting by French Realist painter Adolphe-René Lefevre (1834 - 1886).
The painting measures 8.5 inches tall and 6.24 inches wide, not including the frame.
The painting pictures the main character, Faust, in red and black period garb attempting to engage beautiful Margarite as she exits an ornate, Gothic cathedral. Margarite affords Faust the grace of listening politely as she also walks away. Margarite wears a pale blue gown of rich satin with cobalt sleeves. Her blonde hair is arranged up with a cobalt band. The cathedral in the background is heavily embellished with the stone statues of saints in niches. Four churchgoers occupy the background wearing period garb.
The painting is beautifully framed in an ornate, gold leaf frame and ready to hang.
