About the Item
Dark surreal portrait of an humanoid cyborg performing surgery on itself by Andy Smith (American, 20th Century). The android is pulling on a wire emanating from it's head, preparing to cut it with scissors. The piece is executed on a textured background, with drips of paint revealing the heavy gesso. Of particular note are the features of the android - there are great details in the mechanical components. Although this piece appears to be monochrome, there is an underlayer of blue, creating a faint glow in a few areas.
Unsigned, but purchased with a collection of the artist's work.
