Inspired by William Bouguereau's masterpiece, this extraordinary work by Angelo Granati ranks among the most successful works of the Neapolitan painter, not only for the mastery of the painting of human anatomy, but for having been able to capture the subtle nuances of personality and mood of the portrait character.
The aspects that define Granati's art in this painting are the tact with which he portrays the girl, the fullness of the domestic scene, the technical ability, and his love for colors. The vividness of the image and the intensity of the color have such a direct hold on the observer that he cannot help but be captured by the mysterious and enigmatic thoughts that the painting arouses
