About the Item

"Buddhist Novice from a Tibetan Monastery" is a painting from the "Children of the World" series. "These children do not live with their parents, they hardly watch cartoons, do not play computer games, they do not have toys in our understanding." said Anna Shesterikova about this portrait. "From 5 am to 9 pm they study, and not at all what children are taught in the West. But there is no need to feel sorry for them: little Buddhist monks look happier than many of their peers. They play active games, study, communicate, meditate. The main goal of the educators is for the young monks to learn to apply the teachings of Buddha in everyday life. The path to harmony lies through the knowledge of your own mind, the ability to transform destructive emotions - anger, ignorance and envy - and to be a warm, cordial person. Meditation means awareness, observation of your mind and correct behavior at any moment in life. In elementary school, children study reading, writing, English and written Tibetan. Then in high school - Buddhist philosophy, rituals, learn to make tormas (figures made of butter and flour, used as offerings during rituals) and play ritual instruments. Then you can take a nine-year philosophy course and become a teacher, and then, perhaps, the head of a monastic community. You can stay to work in the monastery or go on a three-year retreat." The painting is painted with oil acrylic and oil paints on canvas in the style of modern impressionism. The painting is equipped with hooks for hanging on the wall, the sides are painted in dark paint. Assistance with framing is possible.
