Cadre ancien doré à la feuille
Élégamment mise en scène devant un fond rouge profond, cette jeune femme se contemple dans un miroir à main tout en tenant un délicat collier d’or. L’artiste capture ici un moment d’intimité avec une finesse remarquable, caractéristique des portraits de la haute société de la première moitié du XIXe siècle.
La composition, aussi raffinée que sensible, met en valeur le goût néoclassique du temps tout en laissant entrevoir les prémices du romantisme : les traits délicats du visage, la carnation nacrée, la richesse des textures (soie, or, velours) et la lumière maîtrisée participent à l’élégance de la scène.
Le style, la palette et le rendu précieux de la figure permettent une attribution convaincante à Claude-Marie Dubufe, portraitiste renommé de la monarchie de Juillet et des milieux aristocratiques parisiens.
