Here is David Shevlino's magnetic 'Judith and Holofernes', oil on canvas, 65 x 60 inches, painted in 2023 after a trip to Rome where the artist was inspired by the treasure trove of art he experienced there. Created with a minimal range of colors, and featuring the artist's sensuous application of paint and controlled broad brushstrokes creating both mystery and mastery. Oil on canvas, Artist signed and dated. condition is excellent / new. A highly collectable work of original art from Andra Norris Gallery in California.
David Shevlino’s love of traditional figurative painting and a lifetime of experimentation and honed skills is on display in these classically inspired paintings that straddle the line between representation and abstraction. David Shevlino
David Shevlino was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1962. A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania, he also studied at the Art Students' League in New York. Growing up near NYC, Shevlino was exposed to art as a teenager. He began making trips to art museums at age 15 and developed a love of traditional figurative painting. His early work was very traditional and classically inspired. However, after many years of experimenting, Shevlino began exploring a looser paint application that stradles the line between representational painting and abstraction. Shevlino has exhibited work nationally in both solo and group exhibits over the past two decades and currently lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
