About Artist
Desmond Akindoju, born in 2001 and hailing from Ondo state, Nigeria, is a talented abstract-realism artist. Despite being an early career artist, his work reflects a deep understanding of the persistence of childhood memories in one's life. Desmond draws on fragments from his own lived experiences and missed opportunities during his early years to create art that is both striking and evocative.
Desmond's artistic journey began during his formative years in the lush flora belt of the Ondo countryside, in South-West Nigeria. The peaceful and serene environment, coupled with the rich vegetation and tropical flowers, provided him with ample inspiration. He has since sought to express the essence of these natural elements through the use of leaf patterns on his subjects' skin in his paintings. Having grown up with a deep appreciation for the flora and fauna around him, he sees his art as a means of reconnecting with nature and expressing its beauty in a unique and captivating way.
Desmond works primarily with acrylic on canvas, and his paintings are marked by the calm and peaceful personalities of his figures. His training from a humble background has imbued him with a sense of tranquility, which he seeks to convey through his art. His figures are often depicted in serene poses, with stylish hairstyles that exude confidence and elegance.
Desmond's art is a reflection of his belief that art can be used to address the problems that affect both him and humanity. His subject matter is alluring, stunning, and vibrant, and he strives to convey these qualities through both African and Western perspectives. He hopes to challenge perceptions about how we should live, dress, and behave, while also showcasing the beauty and diversity of our world.
Artist Statement
I see art as a capable way of addressing problems affecting myself and humanity. The subject matter of my work is alluring, stunning, and vibrant. I also endeavor to convey them in both African and Western reality which addresses their perception of how they should live, dress, or behave.

Believe is a masterpiece that deserves to be celebrated. It is a powerful artwork that embodies the spirit of hope and faith that we so desperately need in these trying times.
At its core, Believe is a symbol of optimism and perseverance. The artwork features a stunningly intricate image of a young boy, set against a backdrop of calming blue tones, the boy stands tall and proud, representing the resilience and strength that we all possess within us.
The beauty of this artwork lies not only in its design but in its message. Believe is a reminder that we should never give up on our dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem. It encourages us to trust ourselves and to have faith in the path that we have chosen.
It is not just an artist's interpretation of life, it is a positive force that inspires us to look at the world with a new perspective. Believe conveys that life has an amazing power to heal our system and rejuvenate our spirits.
In today's world, where negativity and despair seem to be taking over, Believe is a beacon of hope. Its message is simple yet profound: we are capable of overcoming any obstacle if we believe in ourselves and never give up.
The fact that Believe has managed to touch so many lives is a testament to its worth. It is not just a piece of art, but a timeless masterpiece that has the potential to inspire people for generations to come.
In describing the painting "Believe", In Eyitayo Alagbe's words: "And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. Believe in your heart that you're meant to live a life full of passion, purpose, magic, and miracles".
Your belief and working towards what you believe in can make so much difference between the life you are living and the life you desire.
In conclusion, Believe is a true masterpiece that is both beautiful and meaningful. It's not for mere decoration, it's a source of inspiration for life. Its message is a reminder to us all that we have the strength within...
