About the Item
Thank you For Seeing Me forms part of my ongoing series called I'm Still Here. In this series I create paintings that are inspired by all the people in my life that I have made an impact on me. This could be someone that I have known all my life, as well as people that have been in my life for a short period of time. It can also be people that have impacted me both in a positive or a negative way.
The abstract-expressive paintings in this series represent how I feel and how I have felt about people. It also draws on things that people have said to me, as well as related objects or places that I associate with them. Thank You for Seeing Me is made up of layers of paint, as well as an old giclée print of the painting that inspired the name of this series.
This was a person that came in to my life and was one of the first people that I was really able to open up to. It was at a time when I didn't really know myself and they could see me for who I really was, when I refused to see it myself.
