About the Item
Newlyn School, circle of Frank Bramley is the attribution for this lovely Victorian portrait oil painting. Painted circa 1890 on panel, it is a head and shoulders portrait of a young girl in a straw hat. There is strong brushwork and good heavy impasto in typical Newlyn School. Verso is another lovely painting of pussy willow and catkins. A superb Victorian portrait oil painting.
Provenance. Surrey estate.
Condition. Oil on panel, image size 10 inches by 8 inches and in good condition.
Frame. Housed in a complementary frame, 17 inches by 15 inches and in good condition.
Frank Bramley RA (1857-1915) was an English post-impressionist genre painter of the Newlyn School.
