Emily Murphy (née Ferguson, pen name Janey Canuck), writer, journalist, magistrate, political and legal reformer (born 14 March 1868 in Cookstown, ON; died 27 October 1933 in Edmonton, AB). Helen McClain, born in Toronto, studied at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art. She was a member of the National Association of Women Artists, the New York Society of Craftsmen and the National Arts Club. She exhibited with the NAC and the National Association of Women Artists and was a prizewinner with both.
