Large 17th Century portrait of Actor Anthony Leigh As Father Dominic from John Dryden's "The Spanish Fryar", oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition portrait of Father Dominic played by celebrated actor Anthony Leigh from Dryden's comic play about the corrupt Fryer. A full length version painted by Kneller and commission by the Earl of Dorset is held in the National Gallery. This work is likely to be a bust scale preliminary work attributed to Kneller depicting the venal Friar taking coins from a collection box.
