Vibrant oil on canvas painting by Italian artist Luigi Corbellini (1901-1968). His use of bright colors was inspired by his fondness for parrots; here, Corbellini demonstrates his favored brilliant colors and bold brush strokes. The canvas measures 13 3/4 x 10 1/4. It is surrounded by a linen liner with gold filet, housed in an elegant, decorative frame which measures 22 3/4 x 19 3/4 x 2 1/4. Signed, lower left. Weight is 3 3/4 pounds. Corbellini studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan and at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. He moved to Paris, living initially in Montmartre before settling in Montparnasse.January 27, 1925, the art critic Andre Warnod formed a group of artists, including Corbellini, under the title: Ecole de Paris The First School of Paris). Corbellini exhibited at the National Gallery , the Independents , the Salon des automne and the Salon des Tuileries. Luigi Corbellini began his art of portraiture with his siblings, sons, nephews and nieces, and then in Paris the children of the 15th arrondissement of Paris, where he had built a building. He also painted models, including Kiki de Montparnasse, Dorothée Blanck and Régine Forgeot.
