'Light Keeper' by the renowned artist Masri is an expressionist abstract portrait that combines mixed media on a 48" x 36" canvas to create a powerful visual experience. The artwork is dominated by a dynamic array of colors, where vivid reds and deep blues merge with earthy browns and flashes of white, conveying a sense of deep emotional turmoil and intensity. The portrait itself appears to be in a state of flux, with the swirling, almost chaotic brushstrokes suggesting movement and transformation.
Central to the composition are collage elements that form the image of a lighthouse, embedded within the tumultuous scene. This lighthouse serves not just as a physical structure within the painting, but as a symbol of guidance and hope amidst the storm of colors and emotions. The placement of these elements suggests a beacon of stability and light in the overwhelming darkness that surrounds it.
The painting evokes a strong emotional response, mirrored by the aggressive application of paint and the bold, impasto techniques that give the piece its texture and depth. It invites the viewer to consider themes of navigation through personal or existential crises, highlighting the role of light as a guiding force in the darkest of times. 'Light Keeper' is more than just a visual statement; it is a profound commentary on resilience and the human spirit's capacity to find direction and hope in adversity.
About the Artist:
Masri is a passionate Italian, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His work is varied and known especially in Europe and in Major collections - Ellen Degeneres, Ringo Starr, Al Gore, and many more.
Harnessing an insatiable desire for artistic discovery, innovation, and perfection, he dives into experimentation with openness and enthusiasm. The works he produces, as a result, are bright, expansive, and bold.
Masri has developed a style that captures the Mideastern mood with A Lucien Freud brush touch. This style is completed with palette work as the artist often goes into a trance-like state when creating these powerful expressions of the human experience.
Artist statement:
"I live four seasons every day - it is a humongous world of perceptions, conceptions, and achievements; a world of renewable psychological input and output fraught with flowing emotions, endurance, and pain. "
The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and a letter of appraisal.

Lunch at Chez Louis
By Roland Dubuc
Located in London, GB
'Lunch at Chez Louis', oil on canvas, by Roland Dubuc (circa 1970s). The outdoor terrace at restaurants and cafés in France goes back centuries as they have always been a gathering place for intellectuals to meet and debate philosophical issues; for the Avant Garde set to display their works; for artists to compare and exchange ideas and for writers to drown their sorrows over their artistic anguish or melancholy. Even the freedom fighters of the French Revolution and later the French Resistance would meet in cafés to plot their course. Regular people of course also enjoy these venues. A very delightful feature of these French institutions is that there is always room for quiet book readers, romantic couples, business meetings and lively groups of friends sharing a bottle of wine. The artist Dubuc captures a slice of this lovely aspect of French culture in this smile-inducing depiction painted in vivid oils. With a background of greenery, the patrons enjoy the outdoors protected from the intense sun by the table's parasols. Ah, the life. The artwork is in good vintage condition, is framed and signed by the artist in the lower left hand corner. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video may be provided.
About the Artist: Roland DuBuc (1924-1998), French artist, the sixth of 13 children and son of a construction worker. The very precariousness of the family's financial situation forced him to go to work at the age of 14. In extreme poverty, he moved to Rouen where he was lodged by the Salvation Army. During that time he struck up friendships with several artists who gave him advice and taught him techniques of drawing. He moved to other cities later where he met painters including, among others, Fred Pailhès...
