About the Item
Fragile Soul is a contemporary abstract expressive depiction of a woman’s body, created in 2025 by French artist Natalya Mougenot in her studio in Lyon, France. The figure at the heart of the piece is faceless, yet unmistakably present. She is defined not by physical features, but by energy—radiating strength, quiet confidence, and transformative grace.
The woman’s body in Fragile Soul is portrayed as bare—stripped of societal masks, expectations, and external definitions. Her vulnerability is not a weakness but a quiet revelation of inner truth. She does not hide behind features or fashion; instead, she stands open, her fragility exposed yet unashamed. This bareness invites the viewer into an intimate emotional space, where strength and sensitivity coexist. Her fragile soul is not something to be shielded—it is luminous, raw, and resilient. It pulses with the quiet power of someone who has faced herself fully and emerged with grace. Through this openness, the painting speaks to the courage it takes to be seen—not as perfect, but as whole. It becomes a meditation on the beauty of emotional honesty and the tender, transformative strength that lives in a soul unguarded.
Fragile Soul is a poetic exploration of the dual nature of feminine strength: tender yet unyielding, soft yet unbreakable. The title encapsulates this paradox—fragile, symbolizing sensitivity and emotional openness, and soul, representing depth, resilience, and the enduring core of one’s being. The woman’s body becomes a symbol of every woman—a universal mirror reflecting the beauty of self-possession and inner power.
Through fluid brushstrokes and richly layered textures, the painting communicates a power that does not need to shout to be heard. There are no sharp outlines, no rigid definitions. Her strength is flowing, organic, and deeply rooted. The abstraction allows for boundless interpretation, making space for every viewer to project their own journey of becoming—of stepping into authenticity without apology.
Mougenot paints with instinct and immediacy, allowing emotional truth to guide each movement of the brush. Her process is raw, intuitive, and unfiltered, lending a vivid sense of life to her work. In Fragile Soul, this authenticity is luminous. It speaks to the kind of confidence that is not performative but lived—emerging from within rather than imposed from without.
At the core of Mougenot’s artistic vision lies a reverence for feminine resilience and emotional honesty. Fragile Soul is more than a depiction of the female form; it is a tribute to the strength that builds quietly, the power that listens before it speaks, the elegance of knowing oneself fully. It celebrates the feminine as a living force—ever-evolving, deeply intuitive, and profoundly rooted.
Crafted with professional acrylics on heavyweight, acid-free paper and sealed with varnish, the artwork is sold unframed and ships internationally from France with a Certificate of Authenticity. It arrives carefully packaged, ready to be framed and cherished as a reminder of personal growth and the quiet, blooming power within.

Natalya Mougenot id a french artist living in France for more than 20 years. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult. As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult. Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference. She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details. Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach. Natalya manipulates different mediums without a preconceived plan since she is guided by what she wants to express at the moment by embracing the quality of my materials. She does not deny that her artworks reflect her intuitive approach and her love for vibrant colors which represent her who she is. Natalya says she is never able to create the same piece more than once. Sometimes she paints from photos or images. Sometimes she paints from memory. She tells to herself : "Just be yourself when you create ".

Original Lazzaro Donati Painting of an Abstracted Woman

Lazzaro Donati (1926-1977) was born in Florence in 1926 and attended the Academy of Fine Arts. He began to paint in 1953, and in 1955 held his first exhibition at the Indiano Gallery in Florence. Within three years eleven exhibitions followed in Italy, and as his reputation grew he was invited to give major exhibitions in London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo. He is considered one of the foremost contemporary Italian painters and his paintings hang in museums and private collections throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Mr. Donati lived and worked at 24 Piazza Donatello in Florence, the square where generations of artists have created works worthy of the great Florentine tradition. As you entered the narrow hallway to his studio, a gilded life-size Venetian angel beckoned you to his door. Once inside, the present faded away and you found yourself in an atelier where early masters might have worked during the Renaissance. Within, luxurious Persian rugs set off the innumerable objects d'art and antique furnishings. Light poured in through the sloping glass wall on the north side. A dramatic stairway led to an overhanging balcony which served as a private gallery where the artist hung some of his favorite early works. To the left of the entrance was a smaller studio where Donati sculpted, with a window overlooking the famous old English cemetery where tourists laid flowers on the grave of Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
In the main studio itself, where Donati received his clients in an atmosphere as polished as an office of a top executive, one hardly realized that it was here that the artist actually painted. His easel was covered with Persian blue velvet, the painting on the easel was already framed, his chair was upholstered in red velvet and on his palette the colors were arranged with the precision of a Byzantine mosaic. In a corner stand were his latest works, framed and ready to be sent off to his next exhibition in Europe or America.
Donati was a born host with a warm welcome, an elegant man who possessed enormous charm a good nature and a keen sense of humor. Apparently shy, he preferred to speak on subjects extraneous to his art, purposely distracting you from his paintings, then leading you back to them, tactfully and without pretension. He spoke fluent French and English as well as some Spanish and German. "After all", he said, "you've got to know how to sell a painting to everyone."
He had no sympathy for the "drip and splash" studios of his contemporaries, preferring to keep his studio tidy and spotless. "Painting is a matter of precision", he said, "If a painter can't put his paint where he wants it to go, I don't see how he can call himself a painter. For me it is absolutely necessary to control the paint."
When asked to reveal the technique he used to achieve the enamel-like finish typical of his paintings he answered, "That is a secret between me and my butler. Actually, most of my paintings are done by him!"
But in fact behind the façade, Donati was a serious craftsman who devoted to his painting as a way of life and means of expression. From the beginning of his career, his paintings revealed a striving for perfection and continual research in problems of style and technique. His early works indicated a momentary interest in surrealism and abstract art; they were predominantly two dimensional, depending on line and strong color. But by 1958, with his painting The Lady with a Fan...
