About the Item
This contemporary abstract Impressionist piece featuring two women standing shoulder to shoulder captures a moment of quiet intimacy and emotional resonance. In Unspoken Connection, French artist Natalya Mougenot distills the essence of human closeness into a simple, tender gesture—one woman gently leaning into the other, their bodies touching in a shared, unspoken bond.
Rendered in Mougenot’s signature style—where abstract Impressionism meets the charm of naïve art—the work radiates warmth, sincerity, and a deeply human sense of presence. It is part of her ongoing series dedicated to women, celebrating the strength, support, and emotional grounding they offer one another.
At the heart of the piece is a theme central to Mougenot’s artistic philosophy: that true connection and sincere friendship are what carry us forward. In this work, the act of leaning becomes symbolic—a subtle but powerful expression of trust, mutual support, and emotional refuge.
Mougenot paints intuitively, allowing her feelings to guide each brushstroke. Her process rejects rigid formality in favor of raw, instinctive expression. The result is a piece that feels honest, spontaneous, and profoundly alive.
Painted in oil on cotton cardboard and sold unframed, Unspoken Connection offers flexibility in how it can be displayed. It can be custom framed to complement your space or simply leaned against a wall on a table, console, or shelf—bringing quiet beauty and emotional depth to any setting.
The artwork ships directly from France and includes a Certificate of Authenticity to confirm its originality and provenance. Lifestyle images are provided for inspiration, though not shown to scale. Please note that colors may vary slightly due to screen and camera settings.
Born in Kazakhstan and based in Lyon, Natalya Mougenot brings a rich multicultural perspective and a deeply personal journey to her art. Her distinctive style—both bold and tender—has earned her a place in private collections around the world.

Natalya Mougenot id a french artist living in France for more than 20 years. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult. As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult. Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference. She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details. Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach. Natalya manipulates different mediums without a preconceived plan since she is guided by what she wants to express at the moment by embracing the quality of my materials. She does not deny that her artworks reflect her intuitive approach and her love for vibrant colors which represent her who she is. Natalya says she is never able to create the same piece more than once. Sometimes she paints from photos or images. Sometimes she paints from memory. She tells to herself : "Just be yourself when you create ".

Amoureuses by Grégoire Mathias — Acrylic — Bold Cubist Portrait of Two Women
Located in PÉRIGUEUX, FR
Amoureuses (Women in Love)
Acrylic on Canvas
41 x 33 cm
In Amoureuses, Greg Mathias delivers an emotionally charged dual portrait that merges bold modernism with raw intimacy. Two female figures emerge from a tapestry of angular lines, fragmented planes, and vibrant contrasts. Black contours define and disrupt the forms, while saturated reds, yellows, and earth tones highlight the figures' lips, hair, and eyes with almost theatrical intensity.
Mathias’s Diachronic Cubism is palpable in this compact yet powerful composition. The faces appear to hold more than one emotional state or temporal expression, inviting the viewer to imagine multiple layers of affection, memory, or desire unfolding across time. The figures are both stylized and expressive—unified yet distinct—suggesting a narrative of closeness, duality, or romantic introspection.
Executed in acrylic on canvas, this smaller-format work makes an immediate impact and is well-suited for collectors of contemporary figurative cubism. It’s a standout piece for those interested in bold color palettes, emotional resonance, and distinctive portraits with modern edge.
Perfect for:
Collectors of modern figurative cubism, lovers of expressive portraiture, and buyers seeking a compact yet high-impact artwork. Ideal for interiors emphasizing bold lines, vibrant colors, and character-driven contemporary art.
