About the Item

This contemporary expressionist woman’s portrait "Inner Flame", executed with elements of fauvism and art naïve, was created by the French artist Natalya Mougenot and makes part of her ongoing series dedicated to Women, where she explores the emotional and spiritual essence of the feminine beyond appearances. “I don’t depict women in an academic realistic way,” the artist explains, “as I want to stay free in my expression since my depiction of women is all about feeling rather than literal portrait.” This philosophy permeates the work, where authenticity and honesty are her guiding principles: every brushstroke becomes an intimate confession, every bold color a truth revealed. “In my art my main values are authenticity and honesty,” she says, suggesting that only by being true to her inner vision can she give voice to the strength and vulnerability of her subjects. Deeply inspired by the raw emotional power of German Expressionism, the bold, liberated palette of Fauvism, and the direct simplicity of art naïve, Mougenot fuses these influences into a highly personal language of painting. “The colors are my instrument to speak, they transmit the character of the subject,” she notes. In Inner Flame, the saturated purples, greens, and blues intensify the brooding expression of the woman portrayed, creating an atmosphere of inner turmoil balanced with resilience. The title itself reflects Mougenot’s belief in a universal vitality: “I called this painting Inner Flame as I believe that in every human being we have that force and that flame which drive us to move on in life.” By giving the figure a determined, almost defiant expression, Mougenot lends her subject an air of emotional intensity that reflects the eternal struggle between fragility and strength. In this way, Inner Flame is not only a portrait but also a mirror of the inner landscapes we all share—an homage to the untamed spirit of women and the fire that keeps them moving forward. Details: Title: "Inner flame" Acrylic painting on cotton stretched canvas Varnished with gloss for protection Size: 30 × 24 × 1.3 cm/ 11.8 × 9.5 × 0.5 in. Her multicultural background and personal experience inform her bold, expressive works, which have found homes in private collections around the world. Natalya’s distinctive visual language blends Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, Art Naïf, and Art Brut—resulting in paintings that are raw, instinctive, and emotionally resonant. Across her work, three values guide her: authenticity, sincerity, and honesty. “Authenticity is everything,” she says. “People can always feel when something is real—or when it’s not. I want my work to be honest, to come from a place that’s true.” In addition to painting, Natalya is also a passionate photographer. Her photographic work—also featured on this platform—mirrors her painterly sensibility: a poetic, observational approach that captures the quiet power of everyday life. For her, photography is both inspiration and a form of presence, often serving as visual sketches for future paintings or existing as standalone works. I have read that designers strive to give character to cars, often inspired by nature - sometimes their headlights look like the eyes of an owl or an eagle, grills snarling predatorily like shark’s teeth, the body curved like a purring kitten orsleek like a hungry tiger ... not to mention the many horses under the bonnet ... It is this nature of cars, including some of the most expensive and vintage brands, that artist Pancho Malezanov unveils his new series "(Auto) portraits". First of all, because he has experience with painting animals and knows their desires well. Secondly, because he sees their characters embodied in metal, leather and glass. The result is futuristic – a car, yet behind the windows, the character of a powerful untamed beast is revealed. Not always, of course. How can you not trust a brand whose radiator grill is colored like a rainbow, whose multicolored lights wink at you, all stemming from Malezanov’s imagination. He has managed to turn the car into a living creature who prowls around the urban jungle. You will stand up and pay attention after seeing such a car. And you’ll be sorry that you drive a boring black or white machine. No problem – simply listen and take inspiration on how to bring colour to your life and to your car from this exhibition. If you do not want to take a risk with an insanely expensive classic brand, at least you can hang up your own Malezanovartwork on your wall and lift your mood by how he intertwines technique with technology, combining the flamboyant cars with detailed backstories and turns them into colorful toys for a grown boy’s room. Mila Vacheva – "24 Hours" newspaper The prominent art critic Maximilian Kirov writes about the author: ..."As an artist Pancho Malezanov always prefers to interact with nature directly, but it is difficult to call him a landscape artist in the exact meaning of the term. He is not interested in particular details, but prefers to unite the entire scenery through a randomly situated point of view, which does not take into account the horizon line or the static position from which each natural object is seen. This point of view almost always has a peculiar “bird’s plan view”, which allows him to contemplate a panoramic scene. This is a “bird’s eye vision...
