Raymond Wilson Hammell
Joan Crawford
c. 1930

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

This is an original pastel by the talented and prolific pin up artist and illustrator R. Wilson Hammell. This Spanish attired, flapper girl envisioning of Joan Crawford was likely commissioned as a cover for an early talkie-era movie era Magazine Cover. Crawford was an eager publicity hound in the early 1930s filling the void created by the elusive Garbo, who refused any publicity during the era of Crawford's ascendancy to stardom.

While the artist R. Wilson Hammell was very prolific during the 1930's, few of his original pastels have survived and this is one of his finest Hollywood Glamour commissioned portraits. This pastel is nicely matted, properly lined, and beautifully framed in high end gallery frame.
