About the Item
"Jaime #1" By Rebecca Mason Adams is a beautiful original photorealist acrylic on canvas painting, depicting a woman resting on a patterned bed, in a pale light dressed in casual attire.
Rebecca Adams is an artist based out of Providence, RI. She graduated from RISD in 2006 with a BFA in photography. Her paintings focus on black and white portraiture referencing stylized and graphic photography and film. She transitioned into painting after school, utilizing her skills in photography and lighting to aid in her subject matter.
After graduating with a BFA in photography from Rhode Island School of Design, Adams transitioned into painting and is currently focused on black and white portraiture, referencing stylized photography and film noir. Drawn to the ability to apply her photographic instincts to a medium where light and form “are open to interpretation” and “more responsive to my hand,” Mason explains:
“While I have always been infatuated with photography, I have found myself much more passionate about the creation of work on canvas; watching the abstract form out of darkness into realistic portraits that draw an emotional response from the viewer. This body of work has created a point of entry for me to explore two worlds.”

Nadezda's beautiful new oil on panel painting "Red Shoes" (2024) is a surrealist portrait of a young woman wearing a Russian dress, posed impossibly among a strange arrangement of objects at varying perspectives. Among these are living things like a spirit resting on the bed, and a small humanoid figure wearing a mask.
Nadezda is a painter, sculptor, photographer, and concept artist. Her artwork is focused on narratives carefully gathered from the hidden chambers of her imagination as well as live theater-inspired work with actors, dancers, and models. Like a quilt stitched of poetic realities, Nadezda’s mysterious world defies the mundane. With a non-linear creative process flowing between different media, the artist explores various vantage points in her creations. This dynamic approach inspires her mind’s eye to focus on the worlds within and evoke an uninterrupted, creative transmission which is then channeled through her paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, writing and film.
