Very fine large scale early portrait of a British aristocratic gentleman, depicted standing against his parkland. The work dates to the early 1700's period. Most likely painted by a member of Sir Godfrey Kneller's circle (1646-1723), the painting is of excellent quality and very imposing with its grand stature and presence - a very smart work indeed. It would have originally hung in the sitters grand country house and will look equally impressive in todays interior. The painting is presented in an ornate swept gilt frame. Total measurements are 56 x 46 inches. The sitters identity is not known, though he was clearly an aristocrat and a leading member of society during the early 1700's period.
