This striking large Orientalist oil portrait painting is by a talented Turkish School artist from the late 19th century. The portrait is extremely well painted, dating to circa 1890 and is a detailed realist oil painting of an Oriental Turkish gentleman reading a French newspaper. The artist has finely detailed the tones within his face and his wicker rattan chair. The painting is in a fine quality gilt French Empire frame of the period.
Unsigned.
Provenance. Sussex estate.
Condition. Oil on canvas, image size 39 inches by 29 inches approx and in good condition.
Housed in a gilt Empire frame, framed size is 49 inches by 39 inches and in good condition.
