Large 1911 Church Service Interior of The Red Maids Of Bristol at the Lord Mayor's Chapel, oil on canvas by William Titcomb. Beautiful panoramic interior scene of the Red Maids attending Sunday Service who were members of a philanthropic institute of Bristol who frequently helped at the local Hooke's Orphanage. Leading example of the artists work famous for his paintings depicting daily life in Bristol during the period. Framed and signed.

Artist Biography
William Holt Yates Titcomb studied in South Kensington and was then a pupil of Verlat in Antwerp, Herkomer in Bushey and Boulanger and Lefèvre in Paris. He settled in St Ives in Cornwall, and became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. He received a medal in Paris in 1890 and in Chicago at the Universal Exhibition in 1893.
