About the Item
According to the emblematic work “Mary Magdalene comforted by the angels”, 1679 by Josefa de Óbidos currently on display at the Louvre museum in Paris.
In Sérgio Remondes' version, Mary Magdalene in the center of the composition is comforted by the angels and the Holy Trinity represented by the three candles in the candelabra. The light that emanates from there is dramatized yet maintains a light/dark effect and the movement of the angels that fly over Mary imposes baroque musicality on the ensemble as would be expected in a scene that aims to evoke a transcendental state of mind.
