Sky Siouki 'Wild' Original portrait painting. Oil and mixed media on canvas. 80cm x 60cm x 1.5cm canvas size. 82cm x 62cm x 2.5cm including frame. Sold framed in a beautiful limed ash solid wood frame. Wild is an original abstract painting by Sky Siouki. In this ethereal painting a Clouded Leopard delicately pads her way through a tropical forest of rich emerald green and coral brushstrokes. The hazey pink hues and loose pastel marks evoke a dreamlike landscape. This incredibly beautiful cat once populated a large area Asia but is now only resident to a very small area largely due to poaching and deforestation. Sky painted this piece as part of a series titled ‘Endangered’ in which she hoped to raise awareness of endangered species like the Clouded Leopard. The painting has been created using a combination of mixed media including oil paint, acrylic paint, image transfers, collage, pastel, graphite and copper leaf.

Artist biography:
Sky Siouki is a Bristol based artist inspired by nature, wildlife and expressionism. Her latest paintings are an exploration of how the seasonal changes and incredible beauty found in nature ground us, move us, give us hope and remind us of our place in the universe. She primarily paints with acrylic although most of her paintings are mixed media, using anything she can apply to the canvas to build texture. Using earthy and soothing colours, she allows her paintings to lead her into finding a harmonious balance of colour and texture, reminiscent of the calming environment of the wilderness.
Sky attained a First Class Honours degree in textile design at Nottingham Trent University in 2013. Her background in textiles is evident in the strong focus on colour and texture in her paintings. Sky began working for herself very shortly after graduating and successfully built a brand offering printed homeware products. She has now chosen to follow her true passion and pursue painting.
Sky is an emerging artist and has exhibited in galleries across the UK. Her first solo exhibition was held at ACE Arts in July 2021. Since then she has had work selected for the Society of Wildlife Artists The Natural Eye Exhibition in London, been shortlisted for the Bath Society of Artists Annual Open Exhibition and longlisted for the Jacksons Art Prize.
“My artwork has recently become heavily led by the seasonal changes around me. As my inspiration has become more and more attuned to my direct experience of nature, I’ve felt myself grow more and more emotionally connected to my process. I believe the outcome is my most authentic, organic and energetic work yet. Each time I step out into nature, I take great care to notice the colours, textures, smells and energy of the places I visit throughout the year. Absorbing all of this incredible beauty everyday grounds me and gives me hope and perspective even when life has felt difficult and disordered. My work is not only a reflection of nature, but of my emotional relationship with it too.
I like my artwork to remain abstract and open to interpretation by the viewer, inviting them to look deeper and explore the myriad of textures and colours that I gradually layer up using various mediums. I hope that this multitude of layers entices viewers to look beyond the surface, reaching them on a deeper level and causing them to consider how we as humans are intrinsically connected with nature.”
