About the Item
From a firm belief in the positive power of art, Aliya Abs (b1987, lives and works in Munich) creates paintings that evoke a sense of calm, serenity and dreaminess in the viewer. In her works, the artist depicts interesting people, charming places and beautiful objects from her everyday surroundings. Thus, she tries to capture the essence of our humanity, and convey universal feelings. To do so, she works with traditional means such as acrylic paint on canvas and oil pastel chalk on paper, but also with fabric collage elements or chalk. After visualising an initial idea on canvas via a few lines, she deepens the ideas of a series of works at a time. Until they evoke exactly the feeling, such as melancholy, that she wants to convey. Art is an essential part of her being, helping to overcome the depths of life, and to experience the heights even more intensely.
