About the Item
These four still life paintings capture the simplicity of the bowl, an everyday object with the ability of representing a story. Each painting stands on its own while making a strong statement as a grouping. Emphasis is placed on the use of positive and negative space with a play on varied compositions. Layers of acrylic paint and loose brush stokes build up a textured surface. Beautiful wood frames compliment the high contrast paintings, making for an elegant series. (Each painting is 14/5" x 16.5")

Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition.
Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus from commercial art to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US, Europe and Asia.

Details are made with pencil, charcoal, and acrylic spray paint in hopes to achieve an ambient glow of life with a loose but bold structure.”
Born in Columbus, Georgia, and raised on a small farm in Alabama, Newsome's love for flora and fauna shines through in her work. Her art practice received sponsorship from Chroma's Atelier Interactive brand of paint while she attended Troy University. Today, her artworks are exhibited at art galleries such as Artspace Warehouse Los Angeles and art fairs across the USA. They are collected across the United States and beyond.
