Anne Harney
Anne Harney is a representational painter beginning her work from observation and concluding with a mix of imagination. The subjects do not always seem to have a connection, but the still life and landscape paintings all hold something personal to the artist. Personal objects such as Grandmother’s iron, plaster models, dolls, material, mirrors and soda crates from a cousin’s barn, all make for an interesting story. Her landscapes of New England include Martha’s Vineyard and the urban landscapes of Boston. She continually finds inspiration in the local color. More recent bodies of work incorporate different perspectives while reminding her that it’s just a shape and color. Trying hard to eliminate the non-essentials in her work, she hopes to create a bold and decisive statement.

My connection to the island developed a deep concern with natural forms life-plants, shells, hills, trees, stones and water. My paintings create a path of self-discovery. Reassembling pieces together from memory and imagination using textures, patterns and transparent layers make the viewer question how far reality can be pushed before it will yield the powerful essence of what is seen.” Anne Harney is a Boston-based painter who received her BFA with Honors in painting from Mass College of Art and Design in 2011. He writes, "One of the characteristics of this personality is strength. There is nothing in Limouse that lacks relief. This small and extremely vigorous man seduces by his direct and dru language, by his deep conviction, by the picturesque of his stories, by his very life which testifies to his energy. In 1948, Roger Limouse was appointed professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (Professor at the School of Fine Arts). He held this position until 1964. In 1949, the journalist Gisèle d'Assailly (1904-1969) devoted a book "With the Painters of Poetic Reality" to eight friendly painters, supporters of a colorful and intimate figurative painting of French inspiration, Maurice Brianchon, Christian Caillard...Category
