Lilacs
By Viktor Butko
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
A traditional still life of lilacs in the foreground is met with an impressionistic view of the landscape and sky out the window. set inside a neutral toned room; a round wooden table holds up a glass pitcher abundant with lilac blossoms. A beautiful summer vista of a cloud speckled sky, a winding sea, and lush treetops allow the indoor viewer to experience the glory of the day. The subject matter, flowers, clouds and water, is reminiscent of Monet. Framed dimensions: 43 x 47 inches Artist Bio: Viktor Butko was born in 1978 in Moscow, into a family of artists. He often visited the studio of his grandfather, the famous artist Victor Chulovich, and watched the creation of paintings. As you may imagine, this has inspired him to start painting. Viktor’s first steps in art were directed by his grandfather and his parents, artists Nickolay Butko and Marina Chulovich, he then studied at the Moscow Art School, which is known for a high level of training. After completing his training at the art school, Butko painted at the Academic Dacha of Artists, created by the great Russian artist Ilya Repin for students of the Academy of Fine Arts. There he worked under the guidance of famous artists Alexey Gritsay and Tkachev brothers, which had a big impact on his creativity. Viktor’s first solo show was held in the United States, in 2002 at the McCarthey Gallery, one of the foremost dealers in the United States for Russian Impressionist art. This marked the beginning of a long cooperation with the gallery. Later, in 2016, He took part in an international plein air event, which was organized by American painter Ben Fenske and art dealer Laura Grenning. As a result of this Russian-American Painting Alliance a large exhibition was held in the Grenning Gallery...

"Water, Roses, Window, Table" bright and airy contemporary impressionist scene
By Ben Fenske
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
"Water, Roses, Window, Table" is a bright and airy contemporary impressionist scene. A large oil painting of an open window's view to the outdoors, painted from an interior of the artist's home in Tuscany. Situated in the kitchen, facing the window, the walls and room appear dark, as they are backlit from the bright daylight streaming in. A small glass vase of roses sit centrally in our view, on the table's surface, glowing with blue light. A small tumbler, or glass of water, sits in the foreground, almost lost within Fenske's loose, wild brushstrokes. Urgent, loose brushstrokes connote impressionism, and bring to mind modern...

"Lilacs, " Still-Life Oil Painting
By John C. Traynor
Located in Westport, CT
This still life oil painting by John Traynor captures a scene of a large bouquet of purple and pink lilacs in a colorful, porcelain vase. It sits on an off-white fabric next to a lemon which is half peeled, the peel spiraling off the edge of the table on which it sits. The wall behind the bouquet of flowers is a warm, earthy sienna. The painting is signed by the artist along the lower right-hand edge of the canvas. It is 20" x 24", and 27" x 31" framed. The frame is an ornate metal-leaf frame with a linen liner. It is wired and ready to hang. Professionally framed in classic, antiqued, closed corner frame. Frame is metal leaf gold. John C. Traynor's painting style is reminiscent of some 19th century painters and the Dutch Masters. He uses his knowledge of light and color to create a certain mood in each of his works. The creation of atmosphere is an important element in Traynor's paintings. Painting outdoors, on location, is a prime source of inspiration and ideas for his landscapes. John travels extensively, painting the landscapes around him. John was born in 1961 and spent his early years in Chester and Mendham, New Jersey. His art studies began at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, and from there he furthered his education at Paier College of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. He studied figure painting at the Art Students League of New York, as a merit scholar, with Frank Mason. Traynor continued his studies in Vermont with Mr. Mason on landscape painting, drawing with Carroll N. Jones Jr. of Stowe, Vermont and sculpture with Brother Jerome Cox...
