About the Item

Artist Commentary: The colors and their locations are meant to form triangles that reside inside the perfectly square canvas walls. The one bold yellow hold located at the bottom is meant to carry the eye around and around the canvas. Hence it's title, SquareTriangleCircle. Keywords: colorful, rock climbing, climbing, bright, decorative Artist Biography: Cassandra Locke is a Seattle based painter born in Kailua, Hawaii and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She shares her energy between full-time artistry and esthetic therapy. She has a passion for painting, an Aloha spirit, and an untamed curiosity for life. Cassandra’s most current work can be viewed at the Ryan James Fine Arts Gallery. Graduating from Western Washington University in 2011, Cassandra acquired her Bachelor’s in Fine Art with a dual minor in Art History and Psychology. She furthered her education in 2017 at the Esthetics Northwest Institute of Bellevue, where she practiced in the application of art on the human canvas. She continues to work on a two and three-dimensional platform. Cassandra’s amateur finesse for fitness and imagination have inspired her most recent works. Her current paintings concentrate on the sport of rock-climbing. Although her bouldering skills may be basic, her love of the sport is best expressed creatively. Drawing inspiration from the arena's contemporary, modern, and abstract imagery, Cassandra creates a nostalgic playground with the use of oils on canvas. Cassandra’s art can be found in private collections around Washington State, Oregon, and California as well as donated work to the Seattle Aquarium’s Adult Swim Foundation.

I tried several different variations before I finally settled on the image that eventually drove the title and subject matter of the piece. Had a lot of fun amping up the color palette.
