" Artist Statement: I simply love painting and my goal is to capture sunlight and color so that viewers can enjoy it as well. Eric Santoli is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Inspired by the beauty of nature, through his works he endeavors to capture fleeting moments in time. Santoli's artistic expression fuses impressionism with realism. He primarily creates with oils and almost entirely from direct observation, favoring the impasto technique. Residency 2022 The Versaille Foundation's Munn Fellowship Artist Residency Award - Giverny, France Eric Alexander Santoli (b. 1991) is a painter and teacher. He is a 2014 BFA graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a 2013 certificate graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He has also taken classes at the Grand Central Atelier. His education extends into time learning as an apprentice in Anne Harris’s mural painting studio, a 2013 internship at Sotheby’s auction house and many other experiences. Santoli’s current work and style were initially inspired by a 2018 trip to Spain and a visit to the Museo Sorolla in Madrid. He returned from Spain with a desire to paint en plein air, directly from nature and under full sunlight. In May of 2021, he was awarded the Versailles Foundation’s prestigious Munn Fellowship Artist Residency Award which will allow him to live and work in Claude Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny, France for three months in 2023. Santoli is proud to be a brand ambassador for Natural Pigments and an affiliate artist with Rosemary & Co Artists’ Brushes. In addition to painting, he enjoys being outdoors, reading, writing, traveling, skateboarding, and riding his Triumph Bonneville T100.

The painter specialised in views around Monterey and Carmel and lived in the area for long periods of her life. By 1867 the family had moved to San Francisco, where her father’s occupation was listed as “barkeeper” or “liquor dealer.”. After completing grammar school she trained in the early 1880s at the Irving Institute, a private academy for college-bound girls, where she received her first professional lessons in art. While a student at the Institute, she exhibited her painted porcelain at the California State Fair (1881) and at the San Francisco Mechanics' Institute Fair (1882). She studied at the California School of Design in San Francisco under Thomas Hill, Ernest Narjot, Emil Carlsen, Virgil Williams, and Raymond Dabb Yelland. Here she was awarded an Honorable Mention for oil painting in 1886 and the Avery Gold Medal for her study of chrysanthemums in 1888.
