Gregory Horndeski
Gregory Horndeski was born May 14, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio. He holds a B.S. in physics, as well as a Master’s and Ph.D in applied math. In 1979, Gregory Horndeski received tenure as an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Math at the University of Waterloo. A self-taught painter, Horndeski lists Van Gogh, Magritte and Pollock as primary influences in shaping his expressionistic style. Gregory Horndeski’s work has been exhibited throughout North America and Europe, in galleries and museums including Groninger Museum in Holland and The National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. His works can be found in the permanent collections of universities and museums such as the Houston Museum of Fine Art, Houston, Texas, the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, Texas , the University of New Mexico at Las Cruces and the Groninger Museum, Groningen, Holland. Corporate collectors of Horndeski’s work include Dallas Morning News, Home Box Office and GTE Corporate Headquarters. In October, 1992, the Atlanta Visiting Nurses Association commissioned a painting from Gregory Horndeski which was presented to Mrs. Rosalynn Carter at a banquet in her honor.

The playful waving magenta petals drew her attention and compelled her to paint the flower. Pam expresses the vibrant bloom in naturally flowing paint strokes.
About the Artist
Profound sensory experiences of nature unfold in artist Pamela Hoke's stylistically primitive representation of the world and her connection to it. Her vast array of subjects, including landscapes, florals, and animal portraits, emerge as intuitive expressions of energy in motion. She creates her own paint with natural earth and mineral pigments mixed with walnut oil—a beautiful and organic process used by the old masters. Pamela received her degree in fine arts at Ohio State University. Being fully immersed in the natural world ignited her creativity and increased her sense of belonging and overall well-being. She shares a semi-private studio with a group of painters on San Juan Island called the Friday Harbor...
