It depicts a pink jug of delicate snowdrops and a blue and white decorative plate tumble from the foreground and propped up at the back is one of Deborah’s abstract paintings. Deborah grew up in the Kent countryside surrounded by animals and nature and started painting with her mother who was a portrait painter at a very young age. After art college Deborah co-founded a ran a successful ceramic design business in Portobello Road, London, designing, making and selling contemporary ceramics and undertaking commissions for well know media clients. Moving back to Kent in her thirties Deborah taught art and returning to painting, her first love, developed her still-life painting style. Deborah works in oil and acrylics building up her paintings with layers and washes to achieve depth and richness. Pattern, texture, decoration, shapes and colour are all important elements in her work. Working from life is vital to Deborah so that she can capture the essence of her subject. Jugs and vases spill over with fresh flowers and she will often paint part of one of her abstract paintings in the background to add an extra element to the composition. Deborah’s work features vintage china and fabrics from her collections which with her mainly gentle colour palette give her work a homely, peaceful feeling. Deborah now lives with her husband Vincent and their ginger cat in part of a converted Victorian workhouse, her studio is in the old bakery.

  • September Glory, Bouquet in a Yellow Vase, Still Life Floral Art, Impressionist
    By Mary Chaplin
    Located in Deddington, GB
September glory by Mary Chaplin is an impressionistic, almost abstract bouquet in a yellow vase. Echinacea pink and light purple asters make up this bouquet collected in the garden of the artist who could not resist the temptation to paint it. Mary Chaplin, cultivates the flowers in her garden to feed her inspiration. This bouquet would bring a ray of sunshine in a room even though it is not a large painting nethertheless its impact is impressive in a room. This painting is painted with high quality thick acrylic paint on linen canvas. It is not framed but ready to hung. Mary Chaplin is available at Wychwood Art. Mary is a French artist and lives and works in Wailly, a picturesque hamlet surrounded by ponds, rivers and woods, in the North of France. Mary Chaplin for more than twenty years has worked as a self-taught professional artist, always inspired by nature and by the varying effects of light. She started her career by painting figurative scenes she saw around her in the French countryside. Her first artworks were representations of landscapes, gardens, forests, rivers or lakes, which allowed her to explore different techniques, including pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolour. However, both her life and career reached a turning point in 2005 when she witnessed the ‘holy light...

Yellow Glads by Lu Haskew Oil on Canvas Floral Still Life 16x24" Image Size, 22x30" Framed ABOUT THE ARTIST: Lu Haskew 1921-2009 "Life is good to me. Being able to go to my studio five days weekly and paint for several hours, living in a supportive community, having family and friends who encourage me--all have contributed to helping me become an artist. Being fortunate to study with some of the artists I admire has kept me painting from the garden, people and my favorite things. With the support of galleries, teaching and doing demos, how could I do anything else? My goal is to try to be the best I can be by always being a student, looking for new ideas and stretching my horizons." Upon retirement from a 33-year teaching career, Lu rented a studio in Loveland and began concentrating on her oil and watercolor painting. Learning from artists she had followed and admired throughout the years her painting became a full time career. Since 1992, she has studied with renowned painters Richard Schmid, Clyde Aspevig, Joyce Pike, and others at the Scottsdale Art...
