Jonathan Peck
Skull, Fruit, Flies - Neon painting, Memento Mori Still-life, mural or on canvas

2023

About the Item

This contemporary neon painting is from an ongoing series of still-life paintings entitled, Tempus Fugit (Time Flies). Rendered to resemble neon lights, these paintings are meant to be viewed as vibrant arrangements filled with symbols representing the passage of time, temporality, and mortality. The effect of glowing neon light is achieved through the use of a water based spray paint and acrylic paint. These simple means yield convincing results. Viewers often do a double-take and are compelled to view the work up close in an effort to understand the medium and process. What they find upon a closer look are drips and spats of paint reveling the artist's hand in an otherwise mechanical or digitally fabricated appearance. This wall painted still-life mural entitled "Fruit, Flies, and a Skull" can be commissioned and painted onsite at any scale and in any location. The colors and subject matter may vary for each commission as this piece is negotiable and subject to change depending on the terms of agreement. There is no cost for shipping as this piece will be painted directly on site, however, cost of travel will be factored into the sale price. This piece can also exist in a variety of sizes on stretched canvas if requested.
