Joseph Alexis KREYDER (1839-1912)
Born 21 October 1839 in Andlau, Bas-Rhin
Died on March 17, 1912 in Paris,
Renowned for his still lifes of flowers and fruits, Alexis Kreyder was the pupil of Eugène Laville (1814-
1869) in Strasbourg in 1855, then of Georges Zipélius (1808-1890), and Fuchs associated with Mulhouse.
He moved to Paris in 1859 and worked for the industry for two to three years. Between 1863 and 1864 he worked at Théodore Rousseau in Barbizon to help him in his decorative work for Prince Demidoff.
Alexis Kreyder participated in his first Salon in 1863 and exhibited there for the next three decades. He received medals in 1869, a second-class medal in 1884 and a silver medal at the 1889 World Expo.
