Technical Illustration of a Ford Lehman Diesel Engine in Gouache on Heavy Cardstock Highly detailed and precise illustration of an engine by Joseph Yeager (American, 20th Century). The engine is bright red with some green accents. It is rendered in exquisite detail, with careful attention paid to accuracy. Of particular note are the highlights and shadows to imply differences in materials. Unsigned, but was acquired with a collection of the artist's work. This piece is on heavy cardstock. Presented in a new off white mat. No frame. Joseph "Joe" Yeager (American, 20th Century) was raised in Cleveland Ohio, where he went to art school at night and started his art career at 19. He was a commercial artist for the Cleveland Press for seven years, and then worked as the paper’s art director for another seven. In the army, he was a technical research illustrator for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. He later moved to Medina, Ohio in 1941 and opened Joe Yeager Industrial Design in 1947. He also taught advanced perspective at the Cleveland School of Art.

    Very good condition, the artist had this piece covered in protective mylar film. Tape and residue remains on the board from where this film was attached, but this does not affect the illustration.

    Bold and angular composition with cannas by Claire Weist (American, 1930-2014). Bright red flowers jump out from a saturated green background. Large leaves act as a background, covering the majority of the composition, intertwined with other foliage. This piece is executed on top of a previous composition and the artist has left part of it visible around the edges to act as a border. Signed "Weist" in the lower left corner. She won several awards throughout her career, including the jury award for graphics from the Illinois Watercolor Society. Weist was originally from the Boston area and studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and then Harvard. After spending time teaching art and as an illustrator, Weist moved to Crete, Illinois and opened her own studio, where she spent the remainder of her professional career.
