About the Item
Artist Comments
"Eggshells, glass, and bubbles are often considered some of the most difficult subjects to paint realistically," shares artist Kristine Kainer. Skillfully, she combines all three elements to create a vivid painting of fresh eggs in a glass measuring cup with the discarded shells scattered on the countertop. Kristine uses a tight perspective on the subject as though it's sitting right in front of the viewer. Instead of depicting a finished dish, we find ourselves right in the middle of the action—cracking eggs and prepping the pan.
About the Artist
For Kristine Kainer, recreating her emotional attachments to subject matter, whether a still-life or landscape, is paramount. Her goal is to emotionally trigger a response in the viewer. But, "this response does not need to replicate my own feelings; instead, I hope to make the viewer pause for a moment, reflect upon, then respond to my work in a personal, meaningful way."
