Still Life Of Foxgloves (Digitalis) & Ferns, 19th Century by MARTHA DARLEY MUTRIE (1824-1885) sales to $75,000 Large 19th Century English Still Life study of Foxgloves and frets by the rocks, oil on canvas laid to panel by Martha Darley Murtie. Excellent quality and condition large example of the artists work taken from nature. It is among the largest examples of the artists work that would have been painted for exhibition and is offered to the market for the first time, signed bottom right. Presented in its original antique gilt frame. Provenance: Single Family Collection, Somerset, purchased direct from the artist. Measurements: 40" x 33" framed approx Artist Biography Martha Darlay Mutrie was the sister of Annie Feray Mutrie and a pupil of George Wallis in Manchester. She exhibited at the Royal Manchester Academy and the Royal Academy in London until 1878. She won awards at most of the exhibitions she took part in, including Paris in 1855, Philadelphia in 1876, Sydney in 1879 and Melbourne in 1880.
