Marzio Tamer
Sicilian (Italy) Landscape - Stone detail made in egg tempera by Marzio Tamer

2014

About the Item

The Stone still life Sicily landscape painted by the outstanding Italian figurative painter Marzio Tamer, is mounted into a contemporary gold leaves ground frame. Marzio Tamer lives and works in Milan, where he was born in 1964. Tamer is a self-taught painter with a profound knowledge of nature and its rhythms. Tamer's virtuosity is expressed through both his outstanding technique and his ability to create artistic composition that are poetic, unique, and modern. His main source of inspiration is nature, and his favorite subjects are landscapes and animals. His strikingly realistic landscapes are composed in an atelier, and therefore are products of Marzio Tamer's imagination. The exemplary neatness and apparent simplicity characterizing Marzio Tamer's paintings derives from a profound attention to composition, which allows him to interpret and reproduce the most complex (and harmonic) atmospheres. Another strength of his paintings is his extremely refined palette choice, which, appearing to be limited to a few colors per painting, conferring his paintings a rare formal elegance. His artworks are present in a variety of museums among which the Denver Art Museum. Furthermore in 2016 his works were protagonist of a temporary exhibition of the MUSE (Science Museum in Trento), museum designed by the acclaimed architect Renzo Piano. Lastly, in 2017 his artworks were protagonists of a solo temporary institutional exhibition at the Museum of Natural History in Milan, where this painting was also exposed.

  • Mighty oak on a gold-leaf background by Italian botanical artist
    By Margherita Leoni
    Located in Milan, IT
The artist has an elegant mark of nature, and the experience of working en plein air allows her to capture emotions that would otherwise not be possible. She is considered Italy's best botanical artist and collaborates with many botanical gardens where she also holds watercolour courses, a technique she masters like few contemporary artists. The artist herself prepared the background in real, stainless gold, which gives it a modern, warm surface that chameleonically matches the colours of the surrounding walls. Margherita Leoni was born and raised in Italy, however, she spent most of her adult life in San Paulo, Brazil. It was there that she started a collaboration with the botanical faculty of the local university, allowing her to develop interesting research in rare botanical species studies and drawings. For this reason, most of her artworks, illustrate Brasilian botanical species, both rare and common. The artist's mastery of watercolour allows her to take part in botanical expeditions where she paints in plein air. Given her exquisite watercolour technique and her extensive botanical knowledge, Margherita Leoni is considered the heir of Margaret Mee. Among her most important exhibitions, three of her artworks were selected by Shirley Sherwood...

  • Coffee Cup w/Pearl, Egg Tempera, Realism, 3D Appearance, American Artist
    By Mark Thompson
    Located in Houston, TX
Coffee Cup and by realist painter Mark Thompson is 9.5 x 7.5 inches. Notice the figure of the artist in the coffee pot. It is painted in egg tempera which goes back centuries in the art world. Notice the reflections in the painting. It appears to be 3D or a photograph but this is accomplished because Mark Thompson has mastered the skill of painting with egg tempera. FRAME INCLUDED AT NO COST. Egg tempera painting is usually associated with medieval and early Renaissance painters such as Botticelli, Verrocchio and Frangelico. The medium as used by these old masters was a painstaking process, so when oil painting was developed, most artists changed to the new medium. Because the switch was so complete, egg tempera became a lost art until 1844, when an English woman translated a book written in the late 15th century by Cennino Cennini. Although egg tempera remains technically demanding, modern methods and materials have simplified the methods of the old masters. In order to make paint, three basic ingredients are needed: pigment, adhesive or binder, and a solvent or thinner. Egg tempera paint is made up of dry pigment, egg yolk for the binder and water for thinner. Thompson has been painting in egg tempera...
