Mougenot Natalya
Impressionist expressive oil floral painting on board "Summer's orange bloom"

2025

About the Item

This contemporary post-impressionist floral painting, "Summer’s Orange Bloom", with a touch of expressionism and art brut, was created by the French artist Natalya Mougenot. Vibrant and emotionally resonant, this artwork captures a radiant bouquet in a rounded vase, set against a vivid teal background. Bold, textured brushstrokes bring vitality and movement to the petals and leaves, transforming a familiar subject into an expressive, almost dreamlike vision. Each flower is distinctly outlined, creating depth and tactile energy, while the soft curves of the vase provide a visual anchor within the composition. Mougenot’s approach echoes the spontaneity of post-impressionism, fused with the raw honesty of expressionism and the unfiltered creativity of art brut. Her use of thick, gestural strokes not only animates the surface but also conveys a deeply personal narrative—one that exists beyond form or convention. "Summer’s Orange Bloom" belongs to her Floral Series, where she seamlessly blends influences from impressionism, expressionism, abstract, and naïve art. Each painting in this series is completed in a single, intuitive session. Once the work is finished, she steps away permanently, allowing the piece to stand on its own. This practice reflects her intimate, almost meditative connection with the canvas during creation—a process she describes as existing in symbiosis with the painting. "In my art, I embrace a blend of naïve art and authenticity,” Mougenot explains. “I focus on raw emotions and personal experience rather than technical precision. My approach is spontaneous, unrefined, and deeply sincere—free from artificiality, grounded in genuine self-expression." Natalya Mougenot is an artist who harmonizes authenticity and simplicity. Her work is intentionally stripped of excess, allowing the essential elements to speak clearly. In doing so, she fosters a direct, emotional dialogue with the viewer—creating art that is both deeply personal and universally accessible. Her clarity of vision invites reflection and connection, offering a profound yet unpretentious experience. This one-of-a-kind original is painted in oil on cotton board and is signed on both the front and back. It is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The artwork is sold unframed, giving you the freedom to frame it according to your personal space and style. (Oil paintings do not require glass, though it can be added if desired.) Photos shown in styled interiors are for inspiration. Please note that due to variations in monitor settings and lighting, colors may appear slightly different in person. About the Artist: Natalya Mougenot was born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, in 1981 and has lived in Lyon, France, since 2003. Growing up in a multicultural environment during the Soviet era deeply shaped her artistic vision. What began as a form of healing evolved into a powerful means of exploring identity, femininity, and emotional resilience. Known for her expressive brushwork and bold use of color, Mougenot draws from abstraction, nature, and florals to communicate the complexity of contemporary life. Her signature style—marked by emotional honesty and a fearless use of form—has earned her a place in private collections around the world.
