Artist Comments
Radiant flowers of red in a glass vase by artist Nicole Lamothe. A scatter of colorful patterns emerges in the foreground. The grey wall allows the eyes to focus on the flora's vibrance. "These five red and yellow spring Tulips caught my eye," says Nicole. "After waiting for days, the Tulips finally bloomed into the perfect composition for the painting."
About the Artist
Artist Nicole Lamothe melds time and the beauty of nature in her nostalgic floral still life compositions. After Nicole's children entered college, she went back to school for her MFA and now devotes much of her time and effort into practicing and perfecting her artistic goals. The bouquets depicted in her paintings come from a variety of sources, including gifts of affection, purchased from her local florist or handpicked in her garden. Each of Nicole's oil paintings first starts out as a drawing. "When I begin a drawing for a painting, the flowers haven't bloomed," shares Nicole. "The flowers will slowly bloom and the final painting is a narrative of growth that takes place over the course of several days." In her free time, Nicole enjoys pottery, embroidery, sewing and tending to her garden. Her artwork has been exhibited in New York, California, Florida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
